CAIA EXTENDS RETAIL ACTIVITIES TO INCLUDE REGISTERED DIETITIANS
October, 2009: More and more retail chains now have registered dietitians on staff to answer consumer questions, conduct in-store classes and demos, and to appear on local media. Recognizing the value of these nutrition experts who directly reach thousands of consumers, CAIA has created a special collection of materials designed to help them in their communications programs.
CAIA has put together a CD of information on selecting and preparing Chilean Hass Avocados, nutrition information and facts, and breakfast/brunch and holiday ideas, recipes and photos. The CD will be available to registered dietitians through the CAIA merchandising team in all regions.
“These dietitians, who work closely with consumers and their local media, are a very important communications channel for us and have told us how much they appreciate our top quality materials,” says CAIA marketing director Maggie Bezart. “Because they are such important communicators we are participating in the Food Marketing Institute’s annual Consumer Affairs Conference this fall. Our nutrition spokesperson Dave Grotto RD, will be making a presentation on the many nutrition benefits of Chilean Hass Avocados. We expect to talk with dietitians from more than 24 different retail supermarket chains during the conference.”
