CHILEAN HASS AVOCADOS KICKS OFF ITS FIRST EVER TAILGATER OF THE WEEK FACEBOOK CONTEST

Interactive Photo Contest Began Labor Day and Offers
Weekly Opportunities to Win $50 All Season Long



WASHINGTON, DC, September 6, 2011 –The Chilean Avocado Importers Association (CAIA) invites football fans everywhere to fire up their grills, pop open their trunks, rally together their friends and start photographing the fun for their first ever Tailgater of the Week Facebook Contest.  

In true tailgating fashion, the contest kicked off Labor Day, the unofficial beginning of football season, and runs through December 23. To enter, fans can simply head to the Chilean Avocado Lover’s Club Facebook page and click on the "Tailgater of the Week" tab to post their top tailgating photos. Each week, two winners will be selected to receive $50 based on the number of votes their photo accrues from fellow Facebook users. 

“Avocados have always been a key player in consumers’ favorite tailgating dishes,” said Maggie Bezart, Marketing Director, CAIA. “Our Tailgater of the Week Contest is the perfect opportunity to engage fans and spread that football fervor from the parking lots to the virtual world. As a bonus, the interactive voting process will allow everyone to participate in the fun and build up our online community.” 
Tailgating aficionados are encouraged to set down their flags and face paint and upload their photos to Facebook at any time throughout the week. Every Friday at 10 a.m. PT, two qualifying photos with the most votes will each win a $50 gift card. 


About the Chilean Avocado Importers Association
Established in 2002, CAIA is composed of Chilean Avocado importers, exporters and producers. The Association’s main objective is to conduct market development activities and promotions to increase the consumption of Chilean Hass Avocados in the United States during the Chilean season, August through March. Chilean Hass Avocados are available throughout the fall and winter, when California avocados are out of season.
